The Illinois Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (IL CCDC) was held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at two places: Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills in IL and SIU, Carbondale in IL. Mr. Tom Imboden, Associate Professor of IST, volunteered to support IL Qualifier at SIU. Also, both ISAT CIASE (Center for Academic Excellence for Information Assurance and Security Education) and College of Applied Arts & Sciences (CASA) supported this event.

This year, three teams participated in IL Qualifier at SIU campus - SIU Security Dawgs (Advisor: Ms. Belle Woodward, IST Associate Professor), John A. Logan College, and Kaskaskia College. The competition started at 9am and ended at 5pm.

The Security Dawgs collegiate cyber defense team finished second February 20, 2016 at the IL Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition at SIU Carbondale. DePaul University and the University of IL took the first and the third, respectively. The ‘Security Dawgs’ are a registered student organization. Under Prof. Belle, Woodward, the team has prepared for this competition and too the second place in IL. Congratulations!
