Saluki Family Weekend 2016
September 19, 2016
This year’s Saluki Family Weekend generated a lot of excitement among students and their families. The weekend included campus tours, photo opportunities, a craft sale, brunches, recreational and artistic activities, movies, Saluki tailgating and football. We also held several events. Here are some pictures of Saluki Family Weekend events.
Second picture: Becky Robinson, CASA Recruitment & Communication Specialist, and Sam Chung, Director of School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, held a table last Saturday in the Student Center International Lounge during an SI Prospective Student and Transfer Day event and an Academic College and Campus Department Fair from 1:30pm - 3:00pm. This event aimed at increasing the number of transfer student visitors during the Saluki Family Weekend as well as local southern Illinois visitors.
Third, Fourth pictures: Martin Hebel, Associate Professor of Electronic Systems Technologies, brought his robot called “DawgZooka,” to throw T-shirts at the SIU Arena before the screening of “Finding Dory” Friday evening. Obviously it generated good PR for the Information Systems and Applied Technologies and attracted a lot of future Salukis, future engineers, future scientists, and future technicians to learn some exciting areas like “STEM”, or even better “STEAM”, which combines Arts (A) with Science (S), Technology (T), Engineering (E), and Mathematics (M).
