ISAT Programs are introduced at Illinois FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge

  • When:        Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM
  • Where:       SIU Transportation Education Center (TEC)

SIU Automotive Technology hosted over 70 Southern Illinois students on 14 teams as part of the Illinois FIRST Robotics Tech Challenge. Each team of students ranged from grades 7-12 and needed to program their robot to compete on a 12’ x 12’ field, in an Alliance format, and against other teams. Joining each team were parents, relatives, friends, coaches, and mentors.

Various SIUC colleges and programs setup displayed to connect and communicate with the many visitors about the outstanding programs and student centered experiences available at SIUC.  Mr. Martin Hebel, EST/IST Associate Professor, volunteered to support this event with his DawgZooka robot and an EST student, Jeff Keller. DawgZooka has been used to shoot T-shirts to participants. Many kids have enjoyed playing with the DawgZooka robot.
