ASA Multidisciplinary Research Symposium

Applied Sciences and Arts (ASA) Multidisciplinary Research Symposium (MRS) 2017 was held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at SIU’s Transportation Education Center (TEC). The theme of the conference this year was New Horizons in the Applied Sciences and Arts: Rethinking and Remaking Our World for the 21st Century.

ASA MRS 2017 hosted a student poster competition to provide a forum for students actively engaged in research or significant course projects to present their work to a jury of esteemed educators and professionals. IST students received two awarded monetary prizes for their first and second place.

  • First Place - Shane Mueller.  “Software Reengineering a Legacy Game Application with Model-View-Controller (MVC) Architecture, Unit Testing, and Input Data Validation”. (IST, Advisor: Dr. Sam Chung, member of  Smart & Secure Computing Research Group)
  • Second Place - Jeremy Y. Kim, Alireza Khamesipour, Charith Atapattu, Mahdi Moradi, & Abdallah Jameel Al-Khayri. “A Case Study of Applying Node.js in Basic Drone Programming and Web Development”. (IST, Advisor: Dr. Sam Chung, members of  Smart and Secure Computing Research Group)
